Voice Artist / Narrator

The assignment

What we need handled is the narration of approx 900 words that can be found in one of the standard dictionary files which can be loaded by our software as well as a few others.

Specifically it is the words/sentences contained within one or more of these text files that need to be read aloud, sampled and processed in addition to a few other words etc.

The positions (there are actually several available), cover one or more of the available languages.

To get an image of what we need recorded you can find the standard dictionaries in our download section, they are called dict-xx.zip or xx.zip (where xx is the national code). We currently have a sampled DK dictionary, however a higher quality recording according to the criteria below is desirable.

Type of voice artists/narrators

For each country we need a couple of people to do the narrating.

We are looking for one man and one woman for each language T-Board the Virtual Keyboard dictionary files are available in.

You must have both pleasant and clear voices and be willing to lend your vocal abilities to people who have no or little vocal abilities themselves according to our standard cooperation agreement. Download the GCA

You must be willing to arrange your own transport to the designated studio / recording venue.

Usage of material

As for the usage of the recordings they will first be utilized by Little-T our Aphasia rehabilitation program but that will as you can understand not be the end of it, as we strive to extend the use of data generated in as many projects as possible.

As everything created within the framework of The Global Ability Initiative is free so must most resources we use also be. Thus we cannot offer monetary compensation for the work, hence the volunteer position and not a job advert.

This goes for everyone currently involved in the project.

Furthermore we need to be granted the full rights to use the recordings.

The rights to said material is to be handed to The Global Ability Initiative for legal reasons. The plan is however that they are made freely available to other FOSS projects.

Please see the general cooperation agreement.

This goes for anyone volunteering time and or resources to The Global Ability Initiative, as to avoid any copyright or royalty incidents/problems that might otherwise incur from cooperation.

On the record

We would also appreciate a form of diary with regards to your work, how things are progressing as we feel this is an integral part of the overall project history that needs to be 'put on record'.

Looking forward to receiving your cooperation request!

Best Regards

Einar Petersen, Project Manager
